WWE Looking To Reunite ''The Shield'' To Save Roman Reigns

There has been talk of doing a Shield reunion or some type of spot with The Shield at one of the joint branded pay-per-views. The news was first reported by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. If they do it then it would be on a show like Survivor Series or the Royal Rumble.

There have been a few teases since the group broke up 2 years ago. In June, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins were the guests on Dean Ambrose’s Ambrose Asylum. There have been other teases (including Ambrose and Rollins working together on a show in Tokyo in July) but all three men have been kept apart for the most part.

Roman Reigns has said in interviews that he’d love to do a Shield reunion one day but not anytime soon as he focuses on his singles career. He was also pushing for a Triple Threat match with all three members at a future WrestleMania. If they want to do the spot then right now is the time to start thinking about it since all three members are babyfaces.

The members of the group have crossed path multiple times since their infamous split in 2014, but beyond their highly anticipated Triple Threat match at Battleground this year, WWE has managed to avoid a full-fledged reunion for the wildly popular trio.

With Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose currently positioned as babyfaces, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter says there’s been talk behind the scenes of doing a big spot involving all three former Shield members at an upcoming WWE PPV.

If there’s a surefire way to guarantee that Reigns finally wins over his detractors, this is it.

For what seems like an eternity now, Reigns has been embroiled in a brutal battle with the hardcore fan wrestling in what basically amounts to an attempt to silence his critics and/or transform them into his supporters. In true John Cena-like fashion, WWE has played up the idea that the boos don’t bother Reigns and that “any reaction is a good reaction,” but let’s be honest: That’s really just the company’s way of covering up the fact that it wants Reigns to get cheered but can’t seem to make that happen.

Reigns is still stuck in first gear as the company continues to try different things so that the fans can cheer him. Perhaps a short run with his Shield brothers is what he needs to get the fans behind him again. WrestlingNews/Forbes
